"Feuerzangenbowled"/volcanized-punch-examinations of samples of fertile ARTPALAVA out of the italian volcanoes Etna, Campi Phlegraei, Stromboli and Vesuvius Performance, video and lecture of VolcanismInTheArts.de Kain Karawahn and Kerstin Quitsch GDK Galerie der Künste

The magma coming out of the "stomach" of volcanoes is baptized on the name lava as soon as it has passed the "bocca", which is a term for the terrestial opening scripted by the italian word for mouth. But then lava is not only lava. It has been distinguished in the morphology of lava so far between aa-lava, pahoehoe-lava and pillow-lava but, now a further type of effusion has emerged: ARTPALAVA. An examination of the origin of artpa-lava shows exactly that it was discovered as a volcanic hauling product already by art-intimate contemporaries particularly in the areas of Italian volcanoes in the 16th century. It then swelled into an European flood of demand in the 18th/19th century. Later, for unexplained reasons it became stagnant and solidified for a long time. So it is more than pleasing that in recent times there are again discoveries of eruptions of comtemporary ARTPALAVA. VolcanismInTheArts.de succeeded in transporting some samples of ARTPALAVA from the magma chambers of Aetna, Campi, Phlegraei, Stromboli and Vesuvius directly to Berlin in order to present these for the first time to a so far disinterested public.
